PLATFORM : Give Vets a Helping Hand on the Job Front

Share

I sacrificed four years of my life in defense of the United States and it seems that hiring managers could do more for veterans such as myself than they do. I’ve had only two interviews in almost six months.

Some opportunities require a college degree. Well, why not accept my four years in the service as a similar four years that someone else spent in school.

I’d like to hear a hiring manager say to me: “I know that there were many other persons more qualified for this position but none of them had as tough a challenge in their lives as you have experienced.

“Most Americans take their lives and their freedom for granted. Freedom that was won by Americans serving their country. I know that we can’t do anything about the Americans who died in combat, but we surely can make life better for the veterans such as yourself who also served but survived.”
