The Execution of Harris
After 14 long years, justice was finally served when Robert Alton Harris, the coldblooded murderer of two teen-age boys, was rightfully put to death in the gas chamber (April 22).
It is indeed a sad commentary that California taxpayers had to support scum like Harris for 14 years while his lawyers used every ploy, every shyster tactic, every legal loophole to initiate countless appeals, no matter how frivolous, in an attempt to subvert the law and thwart the will of the people.
Finally, the United States Supreme Court--speaking for all of us--said enough is enough; no more stays, no more appeals.
Perhaps now that legal executions have resumed in California, unconscionable individuals like Harris and their ACLU cohorts will get the message.
