Nation IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : Shuttle Flight Reset for Twilight Launch
NASA delayed launching the space shuttle Endeavour by three days so the flight can begin in daylight. The liftoff from Cape Canaveral, Fla., was postponed until 4:06 p.m. PDT on May 7. NASA acting associate administrator Tom Utsman said it would be “prudent” to launch before dark so that photographs and other documentation could be made. The crew of seven will try to rescue a communications satellite that has been stuck in a low, useless orbit for two years. Two astronauts will leave the shuttle to attach the satellite to a motor that is to boost the craft to its proper altitude. Two other spacewalks are planned during the weeklong flight to practice techniques for building a U.S. space station.
