RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA : Circuit Failure Cuts Electricity for 3,400

Share

An underground circuit failure left 3,400 residents in the Rancho Santa Margarita area without electricity Monday night, officials said.

Cris Brown, an operations analyst for Southern California Edison, said 2,700 customers lost power for 52 minutes and another 700 were left without electricity for about 90 minutes after the 9:51 p.m. outage while work crews tried to isolate the source of the problem.

Customers in an area bordered by Alicia Parkway, Santa Margarita Parkway and Avenida de los Funadores were affected. The county Sheriff’s Department said there were no complaints about the power failure.

“In fact, the watch commander didn’t even know there was one,” Sheriff’s Lt. Richard J. Olson said.
