David Galoob Is Back in the Toy Business: Galoob--who stepped down 10 months ago as chairman and chief executive of Lewis Galoob Toys Inc., a South San Francisco company founded by his father in 1957--is attempting to get a new company off the ground just blocks from where he used to work. Called the Original San Francisco Toymakers, the company at first will specialize in unadvertised basics such as dolls, guns and balls. Galoob’s colleagues in the venture include three former colleagues from Galoob--Saul B. Jodel, Robert Kanoff and Rand Siegfried. In a statement, the executives emphasized the low-risk nature of their company, noting that it will make toys only when it has confirmed orders backed by letters of credit.
