West Covina : Transportation for Disabled
- Share via
The Los Angeles County Transportation Commission will hold a public hearing Wednesday on a draft plan for a countywide transportation project that will serve people with severe physical or mental disabilities.
The 10 a.m. to noon hearing will be in the City Council Chambers at 1444 W. Garvey Ave.
The proposal calls for establishing a network of public and private transit operators who will provide service to eligible individuals without duplicating other services, such as dial-a-ride programs.
The plan is federally mandated by the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990, which calls for service to people who cannot board or disembark from a regular bus or rail system.
A demonstration of the curb-to-curb transportation plan is underway in the East San Gabriel Valley.
