Legalizing Drugs

Readers applauding Judge James Gray’s support for legalizing drugs forget two very important aspects (letters, April 19).

Gangs dealing in drugs do it for money. If they cannot make money in drugs, they will turn to other criminal activities to replace lost income. The increased number of addicts and their crippled offspring will swell the welfare rolls.
