Day Runner Reports First-Quarter Profit of $441,000, an increase of 24%

Day Runner Inc., a manufacturer of personal organizers, reported first-quarter earnings of $441,000, or 8 cents a share, up 24% from $357,000, or 8 cents a share, for the first quarter of 1991. Sales rose 41%, to $14.5 million from $10.3 million.

The company attributed the sales gain primarily to higher sales of personal organizers and refills to mass-market customers, and office product and wholesale club specialty stores.

The company completed an initial public stock offering in March, 1992, selling 1 million shares at a price of $15 each. The stock closed Monday at $14.50 a share on the over-the-counter market.
