The trial of New York Yankee relief pitcher Steve Howe on a federal cocaine charge was called off in Missoula, Mont., because prosecutors and defense attorneys submitted a proposed plea bargain agreement last week.
The next step is a hearing June 8 for Howe, who faces a misdemeanor charge that he attempted to buy one gram on cocaine from an informant in Kalispell, Mont., last Dec. 19.
