George Gillett May File for Personal Bankruptcy: The ski-and-broadcasting entrepreneur, whose Gillett Holdings Inc. filed for Chapter 11 reorganization recently, may be compelled to file for bankruptcy himself, his attorney says. The latest disclosure statement filed in Denver U.S. Bankruptcy Court put the court on notice that if George Gillett files for bankruptcy protection, “the settlements and compromises with (Gillett) under the (reorganization plan) may not be consummated.” Officials say that, among other things, Gillett’s Vail Beaver Creek Jet Center and Vail Magazine would become the property of Vail Associates and Gillett Holdings if he were to file for personal bankruptcy. Under the Gillett Holdings Chapter 11 reorganization plan, all Gillett Holdings subsidiaries, including Vail and Beaver Creek ski areas, would file for individual bankruptcy protection. The revised plan also calls for the sale of common stock.
