Gasoline Rises to Highest Price Since December: The price of gasoline at the pump has risen to its highest level of the year, according to an American Automobile Assn. report. The nationwide average price for a gallon of self-serve regular unleaded was up 1.8 cents, to $1.107, for the week ending Tuesday, the auto club said. Prices have not been that high since Dec. 24, when a gallon of self-serve regular unleaded went for $1.108. Prices rose in all regions, according to the survey performed for AAA by Computer Petroleum Corp. of St. Paul, Minn. Oil prices have been rising sharply in recent weeks, and gasoline is also undergoing its seasonal price increase, analysts say.
