Los Angeles City College’s third Student Directors Showcase on Thursday will feature the winner of the Golden Bear Award for best short film at the 1991 Berlin Film Festival. “Six Point Nine,” by LACC advanced cinema student Dan Bootzin, will screen with 10 other short films by students, beginning at 8 p.m. at the Directors Guild Theatre on Sunset Boulevard.
General admission is $7 and student tickets are $5.
“Six Point Nine” was made on a budget of $6,000 paid for by Bootzin. It won the prize over 170 other short films entered in competition. Shot in black-and-white, the nine-minute short is about life in two neighboring apartments on an unusually auspicious day in Los Angeles.
