ANTELOPE VALLEY : Hospital District to Accept Resignation

The Antelope Valley Hospital District board of directors will hold a special meeting Monday to accept the resignation of its chairman, Dr. Harvey Birsner, an 11-year director who resigned after two board allies were recalled in last month's election.

Birsner's term would have expired in November.

In a five-page letter to the board dated Monday, the neurosurgeon said he had learned that "politics is a dirty business" from the recall campaign against Anne Brouillette and Steve Fox. The board is expected to appoint a replacement at its next regular meeting May 27, hospital attorney Frank Michelizzi said.
