Chrysler to Eliminate Line of Cars: Chrysler Corp., faced with continued financial pressure and intense competition from other car makers, is planning to eliminate one of its five car lines in the next year, Vice Chairman Robert Eaton said. Eaton, who will succeed Lee A. Iacocca as chairman in January, said Chrysler will phase out either the 64-year-old Plymouth nameplate or the 5-year-old Eagle. The decision is expected to be made in about a year, and the ill-fated line would be phased out slowly.
