CALABASAS : Group to Discuss Soka’s Land Offer
The Friends of Soka University will present a program later this month to discuss the school’s offer of land to the National Park Service to build a visitors center and headquarters.
The 90-minute presentation will be held at the Calabasas school at 7 p.m. May 28.
National Park Service officials want to acquire the university’s land at Las Virgenes Road and Mulholland Highway and incorporate it into surrounding parks. Soka, however, has refused to sell, instead offering to share its land with the park service--an alternative unacceptable to parks officials.
The Friends of Soka University is a community group formed to support the school and to encourage development of a liberal arts college and graduate school.
