Prostate Drug’s Effects Studied: Merck & Co.’s experimental prostate drug Proscar can halt the progression of prostate disease, reduce the size of the enlarged gland and improve urinary flow, study results show. “This is a new therapy option for symptomatic patients who are not immediate candidates for surgery,” said Dr. Elizabeth Stoner, head of a study group, in remarks at the American Urological Assn.’s annual meeting in Washington.
