BP May Sell Northern California Service Stations: British Petroleum’s U.S. subsidiary has confirmed that it may sell the 150 California stations owned by the company and end ties to the more than 70 stations licensed to carry the BP brand in a market it entered just three years ago. The financially ailing London-based oil company, however, has “pretty much decided” to stay in Oregon and Washington, where efforts to increase market share have been more successful, according to Ginny Sinko, spokesperson for BP Oil Co., the Cleveland-based wholly owned subsidiary of British Petroleum. BP has sent initial “bid packages” on the sites to other major oil firms.
