This Is the Winter of Listeners’ Disc-content

Share

The CD was, for me, a dream come true: no pops, scratches or jumps, just pure, beautiful sound. (I buy classical, operatic, Broadway shows and pop.)

Like other buyers, I expected and waited for the price of discs to come down to appropriate and reasonable levels. Unfortunately, that has not happened. Consequently, once my disc library was “basic”--sample operas, symphonies and shows--I stopped buying discs. I am sure the record companies are not concerned with one buyer; however, I have a feeling that I am not alone.

I hope they will get off the greed bandwagon of the ‘80s, accept a reasonable profit for a fine product offered and allow me, and others like me, to acquire recordings I would truly like to have, and thereby increase the audience, by at least one, for their artists.
