Hudson’s Grill Profit Jumps to $1 Million

Hudson’s Grill of America Inc. said its first-quarter profit, aided by onetime gains from the sales of some restaurants and stock, jumped to $1 million from $35,551 a year earlier.

The Ventura-based restaurant operator said the higher earnings in the quarter that ended March 29 came despite a 40% sales drop, to $4.53 million from $7.53 million. The lower sales stemmed from Hudson’s earlier sale of certain Wendy’s restaurant franchises and the disposition of two other restaurants.

The company now operates 15 Hudson’s Grills and two specialty restaurants.
