Altadena : Council Telecasts to Resume
The Town Council voted 10-3 Tuesday to resume televising its regular monthly meetings for one year on Cencom Cable TV, at a cost of $780 a month.
Councilman Albert Mitchell opposed the measure, saying the county should find a better use for the funds. But Ollie Blanning, senior field deputy to County Supervisor Mike Antonovich, said the money is earmarked by law for educational cable TV because it comes from cable subscribers. “It can only be used for public access,” she said.
Councilwoman Leatrice Erlander, who spearheaded the TV proposal, said during the six months of council telecasts, which ended a year ago, she received many letters of appreciation from shut-ins.
The resumed broadcasts will air unedited on Channel 56 but will be delayed. A day for broadcast has not been finalized, but it is expected to be Fridays.
