Right-hander Don Robinson, waived by the Angels on May 14 after returning from the disabled list, signed with the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday.

Robinson, 34, was signed for the rest of the 1992 season at the $109,000 major league minimum, according to Ed Wade , Phillies player personnel administrator. He said the Angels were responsible for the balance of Robinson’s $900,000 contract.

Robinson was signed as a free agent on Jan. 3. He made three starts for the Angels and had a 1-0 record with a 2.20 earned-run average in 16 innings.

He threw for about 25 minutes Friday in front of manager Jim Fregosi, pitching coach Johnny Podres and club owner Bill Giles. He then underwent a physical by the team’s doctor, Phillip Marone, who said Robinson showed no signs of the inflamed left hip that prompted the Angels to put him on the disabled list April 22.

“I found nothing wrong with his hip and I’m not sure there ever was,” Marone said. “It seems like it was more a combination of a recurrent back problem and some bursitis.”

The Montreal Expos put reliever Bill Landrum on the 15-day disabled list Friday retroactive to May 16 because of rotator cuff tendinitis in his right shoulder. Landrum has been bothered by the shoulder soreness since the start of the season.
