TOUGH MESSAGE: Former Santa Ana Police Officer Thomas F. Adams, who teaches criminal justice at Rancho Santiago College, says in his new book “Harden the Target” that there are times to fight back against attackers. Adams recommends that women consider “resisting decisively and forcefully” a rapist. Adams suggests that it might be worth risking a broken nose rather than suffer “the indignity and dangers of sexual intercourse with an unwanted stranger” or worse.
