Share

A Reseda man has been sentenced to 60 days in jail after pleading no contest to a charge that he swindled five people by taking deposits from all of them to rent a Lake Arrowhead cabin for the same holiday weekend.

Myron (Buzz) Shultz, 56, was sentenced last week.

Another hearing has been set for June 19 to hear a request by the city attorney’s office that Shultz be required to return the $2,600 he took from his six victims.

Shultz accepted between $300 and $400 from the five as deposits on the rental of his Lake Arrowhead cabin for the 1991 New Year’s Eve weekend and also took a deposit from a sixth person to rent his cabin in February, according to the city attorney’s office.

In each case, Shultz later contacted his victims, canceled their reservations and promised to return their deposits.

However, he did not return their money even after being contacted by police bunco-forgery division investigators, according to the release.

The jail sentence was imposed by Los Angeles Municipal Court Commissioner Robert Sandoval.
