High Life : A WEEKLY FORUM FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS : Teen 1 of 10 in Modeling Semifinals

Diana Edgmon, 16, of Mission Viejo, is among 10 girls who will compete in the semifinals of the Supermodel of America contest Friday at Santa Anita Fashion Park.

The girls, who were selected from 3,500 applications from Orange, Los Angeles, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, will be judged by Eileen and Jerry Ford, founders of the Ford Models Inc. talent agency, and representatives of Ultima II and J. C. Penney.

Friday’s winner will receive a trip to New York City, where she will meet with Ultima II, J. C. Penney and Cosmopolitan magazine representatives. She will be interviewed by the Ford agency, tested by a Ford Models photographer and compete in the final round of competition against 11 other regional finalists. The winner will be announced in June.

The Supermodel winner will then represent the United States in the International Supermodel of the World search July 16 at the Star Search Theater in Los Angeles.

Edgmon, a junior at Capistrano Valley High School, was crowned Miss Teen Orange County in 1991.

Dana Hills High School students cleaned up at the Saddleback College annual high school theater festival, with Tessa Zugmeyer and Marty Scalzo winning top actress and actor categories.

The school also won in the Best Production category for its presentation of “The Rainmaker.”

Maggie Slater of Newport Harbor High and Demian Talmo of Ocean View won for best supporting roles.
