Peter V. Ueberroth, chairman of the Rebuild L.A. task force, told Los Angeles city officials Thursday that he had run into difficulty creating a board for the group, which is supposed to spearhead restoration efforts.
“I want to say, especially, I need your help,” he said in a direct appeal to the Latino community. Ueberroth is trying to establish a board that reflects the diversity of the Los Angeles area and will have credibility in the ethnic communities.
He also alluded to the political sensitivities that the new task force has run into and his wish that leaders tell him their concerns.
“If you want to communicate, communicate directly with us,” Ueberroth said. “If you’ve got a concern, call me.”
