CASTAIC : Accused Kidnaper Escapes From Jail
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday that deputies are hunting for an accused kidnaper who escaped from a jail in Castaic earlier this month.
Alvino Lugo Corrales, 29, fled the Peter J. Pitchess Honor Rancho on May 11 while awaiting trial in a Dec. 6 kidnaping, Sheriff’s Sgt. Ron Spear said. He is considered armed and dangerous, deputies said.
Corrales is accused of kidnaping a Los Angeles man, then demanding and receiving $42,000 from the victim’s family, Los Angeles police said. During his three days of captivity, the victim was tortured and beaten, deputies said.
Corrales was arrested at an East Los Angeles intersection while waiting for another ransom payment, Spear said. When arrested, it was discovered that Corrales had escaped from the Men’s Colony in San Luis Obispo about a year earlier after being convicted of selling cocaine in Los Angeles, Spear said.
Corrales was described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 190 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
