Bullet President O’Malley Says Lakers Offered to Trade Worthy

President Susan O’Malley of the Washington Bullets said Thursday that the Lakers had offered James Worthy for the Bullets’ No. 1 pick in the NBA draft June 24.

Laker General Manager Jerry West denied the report.

O’Malley made her remarks on radio station WTEM in Washington. She couldn’t be reached for further comment.

The Bullets will have the No. 6 choice in the draft.

“A number of teams have expressed interest in our lottery pick, but we haven’t engaged in meaningful dialogue with any of them,” said Bullet General Manager John Nash. “In fact, at this time, I would guess we would be using the pick ourselves.”
