Bond Measures for Education

Share

Like The Times (editorial, May 25), I am concerned by the decline of education at public colleges and universities in California. Certainly part of this is due to budgetary constraints. But I wonder where the multimillion-dollar retirement package for the outgoing UC president fits into the picture. What saddens me the most are radio ads that use young children (“will there be a university when you grow up?”) to manipulate voters to support Proposition 153. This is beneath the dignity of a once-proud system of higher education.
