Acquisition Planned: Microsemi Corp., a custom chip maker in Santa Ana, has agreed to acquire the semiconductor products division of Unitrode Corp. in Massachusetts for an undisclosed amount of cash and debt.
The semiconductor products division is based in Watertown, Mass., and has a supporting facility in Ennis, Ireland. It designs and manufactures semiconductor chips for military and industrial applications.
Under the agreement, Microsemi would acquire substantially all of the assets of the semiconductor division, including the land and buildings in Watertown and Ireland. The closing of the sale is subject to the satisfaction of routine conditions.
