Video Rentals : ‘JFK’ Premieres at No. 6

Share

“JFK” entered the Billboard rental chart at No. 6 but it could have easily been No. 1. Retailers are still complaining that Warner Video hurt rentals by releasing it on two cassettes, which gives the public the perception that this three-hour-plus movie is even longer. Still, “JFK” has a good shot at No. 1, though family-oriented hits like “Father of the Bride” and “My Girl,” both due to chart next week, will be strong competition. “Frankie & Johnny” is well suited to the small screen, climbing to the top of the chart.

* “Company Business,” starring Gene Hackman and Mikhail Baryshnikov as secret agents, did nothing at the box office and while it entered the chart at No. 24, it’s not likely to make the Top 10.
