Director of AIDS Center Gets Award
Mary Nalick, executive director of All Saints AIDS Service Center in Pasadena, has been awarded the 1992 George Moscone Award by Christopher Street West.
The honor is given to a non-gay person who has furthered lesbian and gay rights.
Nalick will receive the honor at a celebration marking the 23rd anniversary of the start of the modern gay rights movement, the Christopher Street West Celebration on June 27 and 28 in West Hollywood. Christopher Street is the area in New York City where gay men and women resisted police harassment in 1969.
Nalick, a civil rights attorney and social worker, has been head of the All Saints center since April, 1991. She graduated from Cal State Los Angeles and earned her law degree at Southwestern University and her master’s degree in social work at USC. She previously was executive director of City of Angels Hospice in Los Angeles for people in the latter stages of AIDS.
All Saints Service Center, with a staff of 23 and 500 volunteers, serves more than 2,000 San Gabriel Valley residents each month.
* Carol M. Scott of Glendale is the 1992-93 president of the Junior League of Pasadena. She has been active for nine years on a variety of volunteer projects, including the senior advocacy program and Center Stage Fundraising.
Scott, who teaches at Glendale Community College, has bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Fresno State University.
