GM Factory Tops Survey of Best Auto Plants: A General Motors Corp. plant in Oklahoma City had the fewest defects per 100 cars it built in 1991, finishing ahead of two Toyota plants, a survey found. The survey, which included 46 North American auto-making plants, was conducted by J. D. Power & Associates. The marketing firm gathered the data while surveying car owners about the quality of 1992 models. The survey did not take into account whether the defect was actually related to assembly or some other cause, such as a defective engine or other part manufactured at an entirely different plant. The plant makes the Oldsmobile Ciera and Buick Century.
