COUNTRY LIVING: The Bellflower City Council on Monday will consider the future of “Horse Country,” a corner of the city where a few people still keep horses. The council meets at 7:30 p.m. at Bellflower City Hall, 16600 Civic Center Dr.

INTO RESERVES: The Cerritos City Council will meet Monday to discuss a budget proposal that calls for the city to dip into reserve funds for the first time in its 36-year history to help pay for several projects. The study session is at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 18125 Bloomfield Ave.

ANIMATION ART: The Great American Ink Gallery is hosting a reception on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at 11633 San Vicente Blvd., Brentwood, featuring former Dodger Steve Garvey and Olympic figure skater Robin Cousins. Sports stars will be autographing a limited number of cels depicting favorite cartoon characters participating in sports.
