MOORPARK : Pharmacist Has Rx for Success

Betty Risch moved from Moorpark to San Bernardino County five years ago, but she continues to get her prescriptions filled by Moorpark pharmacist Ken Loe.

“He’s not only my pharmacist,” said Risch, 62. “He’s my friend.”

Loe, 52, who runs Moorpark Pharmacy, also fills prescriptions for former Moorpark residents now living in 30 different states and even in France and Poland.

He said he’s not surprised that his customers stick with him after they move away. “Trust in medical care is very important” for customers, Loe said. “When they find it, they keep it.”

Customers say Loe inspires trust by running his business the same as he did when he opened it 15 years ago, when Moorpark had a population of about 7,000 and he was the town’s only pharmacist.

Now, Moorpark is the county’s fastest growing city, with a population of 26,000, and Loe competes for business with a chain drugstore and a small discount pharmacy. Loe’s secret, says Keith Allen, 36, a Moorpark resident, is “He’s a good listener.”
