Rainbow Acquires French Company

Rainbow Technologies Inc., maker of security devices for computers, said it has completed acquisition of a French software company for $14.5 million in cash plus about $4.95 million in restricted stock.

Closing a deal announced in February, Irvine-based Rainbow paid the cash amount plus 283,000 shares of its restricted stock to acquire Microphar S.A. in Paris. Both companies make devices to secure personal computers and prevent software piracy. A spokeswoman said the company valued the shares at $17.50 each.
