Com Systems to Handle Calls for Nevada Network

Share

Com Systems, a Westlake Village provider of long-distance telephone services, has reached a three-year agreement to handle long-distance calls for 1,000 privately owned pay telephones in Nevada.

The deal with Custom Communications Network Inc. of Las Vegas could be worth more than $25 million in new business over the length of the contract, said Mark Freter, Com Systems’ marketing communications manager.

“From the start, we expect the deal to increase our revenues about $600,000 a month and, since Custom Communications has expansion plans, we’re hoping for an even larger increase,” Freter said. He said Custom operates Nevada’s largest network of privately owned pay telephones, serving the gaming and hospitality industries in Las Vegas, Reno and Laughlin.

Com Systems has 225 employees, 150 of them at its headquarters in Westlake Village. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Resurgens Communications Group Inc., an Atlanta concern whose shares are traded on the American Stock Exchange.

Freter said Resurgens’ annual sales totaled about $162 million prior to the Nevada deal, with most of the revenue coming from Com Systems.
