The Rev. Allyn D. Axelton, campus minister at Cal State Northridge, has been nominated as president of the Valley Interfaith Council, a 275-congregation body with an annual budget of nearly $2.7 million for its social service and inter-religious work.
If he is elected as expected at the June 17 annual meeting of the multi-faith council, Axelton, a United Methodist clergyman, will succeed the Rev. Charlotte Shivvers, minister of the Sepulveda Unitarian-Universalist Society, in the one-year post.
The Chatsworth-based council has 101 employees and 2,000 volunteer workers, said Barry A. Smedberg, executive director.
