Paul (Tank) Younger, whose NFL and Ram career has spanned parts of six decades as a player, scout and executive, Monday became the team’s director of player relations, a new position.

Younger, 63, will work with Ram players in planning their lives after football, continuing or finishing their college educations and other off-the-field matters.

Since 1987, Younger has served as an administrative assistant, conducting some contract negotiations and consulting on personnel decisions.

Previously, Younger was an assistant general manager for the San Diego Chargers for 12 seasons, and before that was a player and a scout for the Rams.

“There are a lot of players that may have financial problems, need some financial guidance, and I’m looking forward to trying to help steer them in the right direction,” Younger said. “I think it’s going to be a great challenge.”
