Elizabeth II, Queen of England, begins her first official visit to France in 20 years today with a royal welcome by French President Francois Mitterrand and a motorcade down the Champs Elysees.
The queen, who often vacations in France, last made a state visit in 1972. During this week’s four-day stay, she will dine at the Elysee Palace, visit a Henry Moore sculpture exhibition, ride on a high-speed train and relax on the royal yacht Britannia in the port of Bordeaux.
