Police Organize 6-Member Gang Detail
BELL GARDENS —
A six-member detail has been formed to combat escalating gang-related crimes in Bell Gardens, where police have identified at least 15 gangs.
Police Chief Ed Taylor said that an increase in drive-by shootings, assaults and narcotics arrests prompted him to set up the new enforcement team, which will consist of a sergeant and five detectives.
The detectives will drive unmarked cars and cruise through town at various hours of the day and night as part of the effort to suppress gang activity, Taylor said.
