Perot and Buying the Presidency

Share

I graduated from the United States Naval Academy with Ross Perot in the Class of 1953. I have not spoken to Ross in almost 40 years, but I have followed his career and accomplishments with both awe and amazement. In 1970 I was living in London, and working for Xerox Corp. This was during the Vietnam War and many of our 925 classmates were being killed and injured. I received a letter from Ross asking me to list my children’s names and their Social Security numbers and return them to him. He stated in the letter that if any of the members of the Class of 1953 died, for any reason, he would pay for their children’s college education.

Please note that he did not say that he would get his congressman to “steal” the money from my neighbors, the American taxpayers, but that he would personally pay for our children’s education. I think this act of thoughtfulness and concern for others may give your readers an insight into the character of Ross Perot.
