An Agoura woman plunged about 300 feet down a ravine in her car from a remote mountain road in Malibu but suffered only minor injuries because she had buckled her seat belt and shoulder harness, authorities said.

Ariane Kellis, 20, was treated and released from Westlake Medical Center in Westlake Village with only a small cut on her face, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

The accident occurred about 7:40 a.m. at Kanan Road and Triunfo Canyon Road in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, the California Highway Patrol said. Kellis was traveling north on Kanan at about 45 m.p.h. when she lost control on a curve. She crossed the median strip and went over the edge into a ravine, CHP Officer Jayne Suits said.

The car flipped several times, bouncing off the walls of the canyon, Suits said, and came to rest at the bottom of a ravine.

When paramedics removed Kellis from the car, they found her conscious and lucid.
