CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : FRESNO : Major Law Firm to Leave Downtown

The city’s decades-long effort to save downtown was endangered as a major law firm, which had been thought to be committed to moving into a redevelopment area, said it will look elsewhere. Delays by a developer in getting financing and starting construction on Civic Center Square forced McCormick, Barstow, Sheppard, Wayte & Carruth to reopen its search, partner Michael G. Woods said.
