U.S. OLYMPIC TRIALS ROUNDUP

Robert Stull of Austin, Tex., in his swan song, won the Division I men’s epee title Saturday at the United States national fencing championships at Dolton, Ill.

Stull defeated defending champion Jon Normile of New York, 5-6, 5-3, 6-4, in the gold-medal bout to win his third national title. Following the match, Stull announced he will retire after the Olympics. He is scheduled to compete in the pentathlon event for the U.S.

Chris O’Loughlin of Van Nuys and Robert Marx of Portland, Ore., also earned spots in Barcelona.
