Chief Gates’ Outburst

Gates threatened to delay his retirement because he has been rebuffed by the Police Commission in making appointments that should rightly be left to incoming Chief Willie Williams. How can a man who displays these childish temper tantrums hold one of our nation’s largest cities hostage for over a year? The success of Amendment F, which will prevent this outrage from happening in the future, should make clear to Gates that it is time for his immediate departure.
