O.C.’s Panic Rejected Yugoslav Office: Milan Panic, a Yugoslavian immigrant who founded a multimillion-dollar pharmaceuticals company based in Costa Mesa, said he has been approached in his homeland’s search for a new prime minister, but won’t be a candidate. “It would be a great honor for me to have the opportunity to help the people of my native country in this time of trouble,” Panic, head of ICN Pharmaceuticals Inc., said in a statement. But Panic (pronounced Pawn-ish) said he told those who brought up his name that the future prime minister must be someone who has the unanimous support of the country’s political, academic and business leaders, as well as its “national forces.” On Monday, author Dobrica Cosic was elected president of Yugoslavia.
