Controversy Over NEA Grants

In response to “Biting the Hand That Fills the Public Trough,” Column Right, June 7:
How hilarious it was to read words like “fatuous,” “self-righteous,” and “moral preening” issuing from the hand of George Will to describe a position other than his own! From the serene solitude of his well-fortified suburban estate, this perennial dinner guest of Nancy Reagan presumes to lecture playwright Jon Baitz and any other artist who dares flip the bird at his fat-cat pals at the National Endowment for the Arts. Will, former head cheerleader for a mean, conscienceless era, has not fathomed that the Reagan years are over. Forever. Thank God for that, and bravo to Baitz for his forthrightness and courage.
