COUNTYWIDE : Bus Route Changes in Effect

Beginning today, several Orange County Transit District bus routes will be modified. Two routes have been eliminated. The cutbacks are designed to make up for lower-than-expected sales tax revenues, which help fund the bus system. Route Changes Route 1 Bus route is “straightlined” along Pacific Coast Highway. Laguna Beach bus station no longer served. Bayside Drive no longer served. Balboa Peninsula no longer served. Service discontinued along Studebaker Road and north of Bellflower Boulevard to Long Beach Transit Mall. Route 42/42A Service to Anaheim Plaza discontinued. Weekday peak-hour frequency reduced from 25 to 30 minutes; off-peak frequency reduced from 50 to 60 minutes. Route 45 Service to South Coast Plaza discontinued. Route 141/141A West half of route is eliminated. Frequency reduced from 25 to 30 minutes. Route no longer detours along Murphy Avenue. Route no longer continues past Newhope Street. Frequency Changes Route 26 Weekday peak-hour service reduced from 35 to 45 minutes. Sunday service discontinued. Route 35 Weekday peak-hour service reduced from 25 to 30 minutes. Route 37 Weekday service reduced from 27 to 30 minutes. Route 51 Weekday service reduced from 30 to 35 minutes. Route 71 Weekday peak-hour service reduced from 40 to 60 minutes. Weekday midday service reduced from 55 to 60 minutes. Route 75 Weekday peak-hour service reduced from 25 to 35 minutes. Route 89 The 10:20 p.m. and 11:10 p.m. southbound weekday trips are deleted. Discontinued Routes Route 36, Northeast Anaheim to Seal Beach. Alternative routes are 38 and 42. Route 80, Santa Ana to Huntington Beach. Will be considered for reinstatement. Other Changes Route 22 Will continue for next six months, then will be re-evaluated for closure. Support from riders and local companies won a temporary reprieve for this route with declining ridership. Route 85 Was not split into two separate routes after rider support. Work continues to resolve concerns about southern portion of route. Also, alternative express Route 205 has lower $1 fare. Transfer Policy Effective July 1, a transfer will no longer be valid for a round trip and will expire after 90 minutes, instead of two hours. Price is 5. Express Fares Reduced to $1. Express routes are 205, 211, 303 and 315. General information Fares Regular $1 Seniors 65 and older/Disabled: 45 weekday peak hours, 15 all other times. Blind: Free Children 6 and under: Free with adult.
