Four Gaelic-speaking Roman Catholic priests from Ireland will celebrate morning Mass today during the start of the second day of the 18th annual Grand National Irish Fair.

The concelebration, so called because it is performed by more than one priest, will be conducted in the Celtic language of Ireland and Scotland. It begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Shamrock Bowl amphitheater, which will be set up in the infield at Santa Anita Park. The regular fair lineup follows at 10 a.m.

More than 30,000 people are expected to attend what promoters say is the biggest Irish fair in the country.

Today’s events include continuous entertainment on 16 stages beginning at 1:15 p.m. Featured artists include the Flatland Cloggers doing Appalachian clog dancing, and the Irish Ceili dancers, who will perform Irish step dancing in which the dancer’s upper body remains still while the feet move vigorously.

Other performers include the Clancy Brothers and Carmel Quinn, known as the first lady of Irish Music. At 2:45 p.m., Irish bagpipers will take their places in the Grand Parade of the Irish in the Shamrock Bowl.

More than 100 vendors will sell imported Irish gifts. Such Irish food as corned beef and cabbage, Limerick ham, bangers (sausages), and teas will also be offered.

Children can romp in the playground and watch puppet shows in Leprechaun Kingdom, while adults can wander through Royal Tara Village, a re-creation of medieval Ireland. The Irish Genealogy Center will present Irish history and legends and will help people trace their family histories.

The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Santa Anita Park infield, 285 W. Huntington Drive, Arcadia.

Admission is $12.50 for adults; $7.50 for seniors, handicapped people and students 18 to 25 years; $5.50 for youths 13 to 18, and free for children under 13 who are accompanied by an adult.
