Sorrow Over Temecula Deaths but Support for Border Patrol
- Share via
In his letter (“5 Killed in Temecula Chase,” June 11), Paul Marks of Los Angeles said: “The Border Patrol/INS is not at fault here. It is their job to chase and catch illegals.”
How about: It is their job to stop the illegals!
May I compare the situation to a football game. The offense has the ball, first and 10, on their 30-yard line. We all to our amazement see the defense line up midfield. You know the defense will have to do a lot of chasing to stop the offense.
The offense in this case are the “illegals”; the line of scrimmage is the border line. Why would the defense, the Border Patrol/INS, line up in Temecula to stop the offense at the border?
The Border Patrol/INS strategy has to change. Remember, the game is played at the line of scrimmage.
